Welcome to Cheam Counselling and Psychotherapy

Rachael Robertson - Cheam Counsellor

Hi, my name is Rachael. I am a fully qualified therapist and registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy offering counselling and psychotherapy sessions to adult individuals at my private practice in Cheam and to clients throughout the local area and rest of the UK, via telephone or Zoom.

I am an integrative therapist which means I will combine a range of models and theoretical approaches to better suit you. My aim is to provide you with a safe, encouraging space to be yourself, in order to work through what you wish to focus on.

This may be relationship difficulties, feelings of low self-worth, bereavement, anxiety, depression or low mood, or a general feeling that you’re stuck and not quite sure why.

Whatever it is that brings you to therapy, the journey starts here.

Through sharing yourself, your worries, your fears and your feelings, we can begin to explore what exactly is happening, why this is happening and how you might be able to move forwards.

We are often products of the “get on with it” generation but thankfully, we are now more accepting of seeking help, we are now, more than ever, aware of the importance of looking after our mental health so that we might thrive and find our happiness, without guilt, without fear and without delay!

The aim of therapy is improvement, for yourself, here and now in the present and also in the future.

It can sometimes be hard to justify taking this time for yourself, which ironically, might be a clue that you tend to put others first, neglecting your own needs yet often feeling resentful.

You may feel unsure about sharing details of yourself with a “stranger”, but this might be a sign that you often feel judged or are afraid of other’s judgement, maybe feeling not good enough.

These feelings are universal and many of us have felt this way at one time or another, but I will say, the day I sought therapy, a long time ago now, was the start of a life changing journey of self-awareness and growth. For the first time I understood myself, the true reasons behind why I felt the way I felt, why I was the way I was, why I reacted in the way I did. It was as though I really saw myself for the first time.

Exploring and then accepting these aspects of myself, freed me to choose a new way of being, one that felt authentic and directed by me, not by the conditions placed upon me in childhood nor by the expectations of those around me.

The reason I have spent so many years training is to help you find that freedom for yourself.

If you feel I might be the right person to begin this journey with, you can contact me using the form or call me on 07432 203 851. I may be unable to answer your call right at this moment, but if you leave me a voicemail, I will call you back as soon as possible.

Best wishes

Rachael
